Some call it GUT,
Some call it GIT,
Some just call it Gastro,
Which is acceptable also,

Some like to cut,
Some like to scope,
Surgeons are such,
Physicians are so.

Gastroenterology our chosen specialty,
To us the best there is,
Not to forget hepatology,
And their respective surgical disciplines.

A "physicianly" surgeon,
Working as a team,
With a "surgeonly" physician,
Forms the best unit.

Blurring the divide,
Between medicine and surgery,
Together they decide,
With the aid of radiology.

Luminologists look down endoscopes,
Pathologists peer down microscopes,
Blend between the down-to-earth and the hi-tech,
What they see is what you get.

Not to forget the GIA's,
Be they school leavers, nurses or MA's,
We can't do without you,
For you know us through and through.

You anticipate our every move,
You understand our mood,
You execute and you improvise,
At times we also heed your invaluable advice.

The Malaysian GI fraternity,
Truly believes,
